We’re GIANT Peanut Butter fans in this house. We love the taste and use it for about everything we possibly can. From making peanut butter playdough to homemade uncrustables peanut butter is always on our shopping list. My girls love baking cakes. One of our favorite kind of cakes to make are poke cakes because of how easy and delicious they are to make.
What are poke cakes?
If you’ve never had a poke cake before, then you’re in a for a treat. These delicious and easy to make desserts are perfect for feeding a crowd and the perfect dessert to bring to party or potluck. Best of all their crazy easy to make.
It is called a poke cake because you bake your cake mix in a pan, usually 9×13 . After it cools a bit, you poke holes in the cake with the handle of a wooden spoon. This is where you get creative. You then top it with an assortment of fillings or frostings or toppings to soak into those holes, infusing moisture and flavor into every delicious bite. There’s so many ways to get creative with these delicious cakes. You can make some delicious creations just by mixing up the fillings and toppings. Some of my favorites are Caramel Heath Poke Cake, Sonic ocean water Poke cake, Summer Peach poke cake, or a Patriotic poke cake.

How to make Easy Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Poke Cake
Reese’s Poke Cake: A Delicious Peanut Butter Dessert Recipe
This Reese’s Poke Cake is such a decadent and easy Peanut butter dessert recipe for the serious peanut butter cups lovers. This heavenly combination comes together in this chocolate peanut butter sheet cake that is perfect to bring to parties, dinners or eat just because!
Ingredients
- 1 boxed chocolate cake- Plus ingredients called for on box
- 1 box chocolate pudding- Plus ingredients called for on box
- 3/4 cup peanut butter
- 1/4 cup chocolate frosting (can be omitted)
- 8 oz Cool Whip (approximately 2-3 cups)
- Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, for garnish
- Reese's Pieces, for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare and cook boxed cake mix according to package directions.
- Meanwhile, prepare chocolate pudding mix according to package directions. Stir 1/2 cup peanut butter into the pudding mix. Set aside.
- Place remaining peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 20 seconds. Stir well.
- Place chocolate frosting in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for 20 seconds. Stir well.
- Once cake is removed from oven, use the end of a wooden spoon or chopstick to poke holes all over the top of the cake - trying not to go through the whole thickness of the cake.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate frosting and peanut butter all over the cake, then pour over the chocolate-peanut butter pudding.
- Smooth the pudding into an even layer using an offset spatula or the back of a spoon.
- Place cake in the fridge to cool slightly, then top with the Cool Whip, smoothing down in an even layer.
- Garnish with any remaining melted peanut butter and frosting, along with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Reese's Pieces.
- Allow melted peanut butter and frosting to set before slicing and serving.
