Caramel Apple Pie Bombs: 5 Ingredient Breakfast Recipe
Fall is all about apples and pumpkins. However, I love apple desserts and I really don’t need it to be a specific time of year to enjoy apples. This breakfast recipe is one that everyone will love. However, it doesn’t need to be made just for breakfast. You can enjoy it with an afternoon cup of coffee or for a brunch treat.
The flavors alone will be rich and full. One bite of this Apple pie bomb and all the delicious flavors will come gushing out. I promise this will be one fo the most phenomenal treats you will ever eat. The crusty sweet roll that envelops a sweet and gooey filling is really amazing.
This recipe is a variation of the recipe found over at the Slow Roasted Italian. The Slow Roasted Italian’s recipe is fantastic and yields a few more.
However, being a mom of 6 with barely any time on my hands I realized that although that recipe looks absolutely amazing, making the apple pie filling from scratch just wasn’t in the cards for me.
On top of that my daughter and I realized that what this recipe needed was the delicious crunch of pecans.
The original recipe is amazing, but because this page is dedicated to conserving your time, money and sanity simplifying this recipe was a must.
That’s why I came up with this Caramel Apple Pie bomb with pecans recipe. I promise though cutting the corners on this will not sacrifice the taste or experience.
What you’ll need to make Caramel Apple Pie Bombs
1 cup of Apple Pie filling
23 Caramel squares (Kraft has a good one that comes individually wrapped)
1 Can of Refrigerator biscuits (Grands Biscuits)
2 tablespoons of Heavy Whipping cream
3 Tablespoons of melted butter
Optional (Chopped Pecans)*
*I will include the recipe below with Pecans because this gives it an AMAZING touch. Believe me you will love it. That being said it can be omitted if you don’t like them or if you have food allergies and it will be just as good. But my daughter and I agreed, this was the crowning glory on this dessert.
How to make Caramel Apple Pie Bombs
Preheat oven 350 degrees
- Butter an 8×8 pan and add chopped pecans and brown sugar to bottom.
- Flatten the Refrigerator dough into about 3 inch rounds.I floured the surface so they don’t stick. You can flatten by hand or use a roller. Make it big enough to be able to fit all the fillings inside.
- Add 1 caramel, a scoop of apple pie filling and pecans
- Pull each piece up almost to create a little money bag. Pinch at the top to make sure they all stay secure inside.
- Place “knot” side down on baking sheet.
- Repeat on all refrigerator doughs. Will yield 8 if you use the grands rolls.
- Brush Melted Butter on top and sprinkle with brown sugar
- Bake until golden.
- While it’s baking place about 15 caramels and the heavy cream in a microwave safe bowl and microwave until melted, 30 seconds at a time, stirring after time. Once you have a smooth mixture, set aside .
- When baked remove Caramel Apple Pie Bombs from oven, drizzle with caramel sauce, add some more pecans and serve!
I promise this will be a symphony of flavors for your senses. Just serve and enjoy!
You can put as little or as much caramel sauce as you like making this an ooey gooey delight.
Serve warm or cold this treat is mind blowingly delicious.
