I love quick and easy desserts. It’s what I live for. When I make a big Sunday dinner I always like to add a fun dessert at the end but really don’t want to struggle. Dump cakes have become my go to for all things dessert. My kids love the crunchy crust and I love how crazy they are to make. It only takes a few steps to make these delicious treats!
Ingredients you need to make a dump cake
Dump cakes are crazy easy and all you need are technically 3-4 ingredients depending on the fillings. I’ve made some great varieties including Strawberry and Pineapple, Apple, blueberry, strawberry and this delicious one is made with Blackberry. Honestly though the sky’s the limit on the amount of varieties you can create.
The two first ingredients you need for this is:
A Box of Yellow Cake Mix
1 Cup of Butter (2 sticks)
Finally, 2 – 21 oz cans of Fruit Filling in this case Blackberry.
And that’s it!
How to make a dump cake
This is seriously the easiest dessert in existence. I usually have my kids make it!
To begin Preheat the oven to 325ºF. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Sprinkle the Cake mix over the fruit filling
Melt half a cup of butter and pour it over the cake and slice up the other half.
I put the over the cake and spread it to make sure the cake is covered with butter completely so there’s no dry spots.
Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges, about 40 minutes.
Finally top with homemade vanilla ice cream or cool whip and your good to go!

- Box of Yellow cake
- 2 cans of blackberry pie filling
- 1 cup of butter
Preheat the oven to 325ºF. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Spread the pie filling in the bottom of the baking dish.
Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the Blackberry pie filling.
Melt 1/2 cup of the butter and pour evenly over the top of the cake mix.
Take the remaining 1/2 cup of butter and cut into small pieces. Place the pieces of butter over the top of the cake.
Bake the cake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling around the edges, about 40 minutes.
Serve the cake warm with ice cream or cool whip.
