Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce Recipe
The holidays are coming fast and it’s time to start planning your menu! This easy cranberry recipe is made using fresh cranberries and has a truly amazing taste!
I feel like I NEVER have room in the oven during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. That is why I love that I can use my handy dandy slow cooker and be cooking up this classic side dish.
The added brown sugar creates such a fun sweetness that pairs with the cranberries and the orange zest is wonderful, too. The kids really love to help with the zest. They think that it’s funny that we use some of the orange peels for the zest but don’t actually eat orange peels in real life!
This simple cranberry sauce is sure to be a huge hit at your family holiday gathering. It’s such a simple way to share a truly delicious recipe with others.
What you’ll need to make Slow Cooker Cranberry Sauce
- 12 ounces fresh cranberries
- ½ cup water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ tablespoon orange zest
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions:
Spray the bowl of the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
Add the cranberries, water, sugar, brown sugar, orange zest, and cinnamon. Stir to combine.
Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours, stirring occasionally.
When the cooking time is up, stir in the cornstarch and water mixture. Place the lid back on the slow cooker and set to cook on high for 30 minutes. Until the sauce has thickened.
Super simple, right? As you can tell, you just have to add the ingredients and let the crockpot take over. Who doesn’t love minimal work? It doesn’t get much better than that!
What foods does cranberry sauce pair with?
In my opinion, all of them! I love to have this cranberry side dish with my turkey or ham. It also pairs perfectly with green bean casserole and dinner rolls, too! Once you make this recipe you’ll never want to buy the store-bought stuff again!
