1 12-count package Hawaiian rolls
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
For the Frosting:
1/4 cup butter, softened
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 to 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Stir together the melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well combined.
Remove the Hawaiian rolls from the packaging and slice the entire loaf in half lengthwise, creating top and bottom buns.
Place the bottom buns in the prepared baking dish.
- Brush half the butter mixture over the bottom section of the rolls.
- Place the top half of the rolls in the pan and brush with the remaining butter mixture.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, until the rolls are golden brown.
- While the rolls are baking, prepare the frosting by beating together the butter, cream cheese, and vanilla until smooth.
- Add the powdered sugar and 1/2 tablespoon of milk to the bowl and beat to combine. Add more milk, if needed, until the icing is your desired consistency.
- When the rolls are finished baking, remove them from the oven and immediately top with the cream cheese icing. Serve warm.
How to Store
No one wants stale cinnamon rolls! To keep these sweet treats as fresh as possible, store them in an airtight container in the fridge.
Due to the frosting on top, they will need to be kept cold. If you want to reheat them before eating them, pop them in the microwave for about 10 seconds. This will warm them right up and make them taste fresh and delicious.
Fun Topping Ideas
Don’t forget that you can always make these festive and fun! Adding colored sprinkles turns them into a holiday breakfast or even a birthday treat.
You can also change the type of frosting that you add to keep them different and delicious. Some people don’t want to add toppings at all, which is totally fine as well.
The versatility of this recipe is what makes it one of the best!
