How To Help Your Children When They Get Hurt Or Sick
When your children are ill, it is one of the worst feelings, you just want to take it away and help them feel better. Depending on what is wrong with them will also depend on how you take care of them. For a simple cold, it will be TLC, medicine, and rest whereas more serious things will require a lot more.
Keep Them Comfortable
When a child has a cold or the flu they feel rotten, they will need to rest so you can set them up a little bed on the couch so they can lay there and watch TV while you look after them and go about your day. As they may be coughing and sneezing all over the place and children don’t always cover their mouths and noses, cleaning and swapping the bed sheets regularly will be key.
Keep Them Distracted
A lot of times when children are ill they can get caught up in it and make themselves feel worse. A good way to help them get through this is through distraction. You could let them lay on the sofa and play on the tablet or watch a movie. You could also find them a little craft set or buy them a new magazine. Whatever their interests are, use that to keep them focused and occupied so they aren’t just focusing on how awful they feel.
Seek Support If You Need It
In some cases, you may need the help of others for your child, if they become quite ill where you can no longer manage the symptoms you may need to seek advice from a doctor or in worse cases the hospital. If they become hurt from something serious you may need legal support too like if they were involved in a car crash you may need an accident attorney and if they were bitten by a dog they may need a dog bite lawyer.
Make Sure They Are Eating Nutritional Foods
When children are sick they need all the help they can get to help their bodies fight off the virus or bug that they have caught by having nutritional foods. A good thing to give them is chicken noodle soup. In this, the broth is full of goodness to help them fight off the illness as well as protein from the chicken, carbs from the noodles or pasta, and lots of goodness from the vegetables you put in.
Make Sure They Don’t Fall Behind
Especially when they are in important years in school you want to make sure being ill doesn’t affect their school work. If they are going to be off for a long time you could speak to the school and get some work they will be doing, the last thing they need is to go back to school after being off for a while and being really behind which can cause a lot of stress. If they have siblings in the school you could get them to go to their class and pick up some work for them.
