Candy Cane Pie: Christmas Pie Recipe
Raise your hand if you’re a fan of chilled pie?! I love it – and crave it every year. Thankfully this simple mint pie recipe is always at the top of my list. Not only is it festive and fun but it’s full of amazing flavor as well.
With the creamy filling made of marshmallow creme and whipped topping, you know it’s going to rock. The added crushed candy canes on top add a nice crunchy texture and a burst of added mint!
This would be perfect for making pie for the days leading up to Christmas or even a fun treat to dive into after opening gifts. Who says that you can’t eat dessert anytime that you want to during the holiday months?
Makes 8 Servings
Prep time: 10 minutes
Chill time: 8 hours
Ingredients:
1 container marshmallow crème
8 ounces whipped topping
½ teaspoon peppermint extract
1 drop red gel food coloring
3 candy canes, finely crushed, divided
1 chocolate pie crust
Additional whipped topping for topping, optional
Instructions:
Stir together the marshmallow crème and whipped topping until well combined.
Add the peppermint extract, food coloring, and 2/3 of the candy canes and stir to combine.
Spread the mixture evenly in the pie crust and place in the refrigerator. Chill for at least 8 hours.
When ready to serve, top with more whipped topping, if desired, then sprinkle remaining candy canes over the top of the pie.
Can you freeze this simple Christmas Pie?
I wouldn’t because it’s too good to wait that long! Since you only need simple ingredients, make it and eat it fresh. As long as you keep it stored in the fridge, it should last for a couple of days without issue. (although there is NO WAY it’s going to last that long!)
