Air Fryer Soft Pretzels
Have I mentioned a time or two how much I love using my air fryer for just about everything? Seriously, it’s the best. I love how fast it is, how easy it is to clean up, and how it literally cooks everything to perfection that I put inside of it. This simple kitchen appliance continues to save my cooking skills time and time again.
And even though I could buy the frozen pretzels at the store, I’m really not too fond of putting all those preservatives in our tummies. If I can make something homemade, I’d much rather do so!
These Pretzels cooked in the air fryer are fast, simple, and taste just like the ones you’d get at the mall or the carnival. So good!
This simple homemade pretzel recipe makes 8 soft pretzels and has a prep time of 30 minutes and a cook time of 15 minutes. Plan ahead and you’ll be just fine!
I love making these for a fun and quick afternoon snack. And just like everything with kids….some like their pretzels sweet, some like their pretzel salty, and some like their pretzels dipped in cheese!
What You’ll Need To Make Air Fryer Soft Pretzels
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 1/3 cup milk
For Topping:
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- ¼ cup coarse salt
- (or cheese or cinnamon & sugar!)
How To Make Air Fryer Pretzels
Preheat the air fryer to 375 degrees.
Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
Cut the butter into the flour mixture with a pastry blender or fork.
Add the milk and stir until a soft dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead the dough until smooth and no longer sticky.
Separate the dough into eight equal balls. Roll each ball between your hands to form a long rope, then twist the ends together to form a knot.
Cook the pretzels in the air fryer for 15 minutes, until golden brown.
After the pretzels are cooked, brush each one with melted butter and top with coarse salt.
Tips For Making Homemade Pretzels
Make certain that you don’t overmix the dough – I know, this part can be totally confusing…but all you need to do is knead it until it’s not sticky any longer. After that, it should be fine to use. (if you overmix it, the dough can become really chewy once baked and lose some of that softness)
If you want to top with cinnamon and sugar, you’re going to want to still brush the tops of the pretzels with melted butter before adding the ingredients on so that they stick!
Make certain to let them cool a bit once they’re cooked because they told to hold in the heat.
