Two Things You Must Do When You Own a Pool

Sharing is caring!

If you own a home on the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast, you know the benefits of owning a pool. Pools will increase your home’s property value and enhance your quality of life. While many fun, family memories are made around a pool, they are also a big responsibility. Anyone who owns a pool or wants to install one should keep in mind two of the most important things when you own a pool in Australia:

Complete Pool Safety Inspections

After November 2015, the council may inspect your pool to determine whether your pool is in compliance of the law. To ensure that you are in compliance, you should schedule regular pool safety inspections in the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast. You are not required to have a pool safety certificate but having one does mean that your pool is in compliance. The certificates verify that the pool meets certain qualifications and any issues with compliance are noted so you can fix them before a formal inspection. Take the time to make sure your pool is compliant before being told that it isn’t.

Safe Pool Fencing to Gold Coast standards

Having your pool enclosed by a fence in the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast is a requirement. Installing a pool fence is an expense, but it is an expense that is worth the peace of mind you receive. Installing fencing will help to reduce the chances of anyone using your pool and drowning. Having a fence will also help to protect you from liability should an accident occur. Choosing the right type of pool fence is not easy. Pool fences come in a variety of materials and colours. The fencing materials include wood, semi-transparent and metal. When selecting fence, make sure your preferences match your property and home’s overall appearance. You should also take into consideration the functionality of the fence. At the end of the day, the fence needs to do what it is intended to do.

Owning and having access to a pool is a lot of fun and a worthy investment. However, you need to take the time and effort to maintain it and ensure it is compliant. Many pool owners in the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast use The Big Tick for all of their pool maintenance needs. To find out what they have to offer, visit them at

Thanks so very much for the Fantastic Review on Two Things You Must Do When You Own a Pool! I know that different states, even different boroughs have different rules when you own a pool. One thing that they all have in common is that there must be a fence around the pool! I’ve always wanted a pool, however, where we live right now, there is no room for a pool. Well, there is room, however, it would go over onto each of our neighbor’s property line just a tad and then we’d have to get signed permission from each of them and then pay $700 to go to court to see if they will allow us to put up the pool. Just because you pay the $700 does not mean that they will allow you to do so! It’s too much trouble for us to do all that! Plus it gets very expensive and we just can’t afford it! I’m guessing that you have a pool being that you are in Florida! I would guess it gets pretty darn hot there! I thank you very much for sharing your fantastic review and all the information on two main things you must do in order to have a pool with all of us! I honestly do appreciate it! Thanks again! Michele 🙂
