As much as I love back to school season, one thing I always dread are the constant colds kids bring home from school. It’s not something that your kids mean to do but because they get so caught up with everything around them, the inevitable happens, they bring germs home. So it’s important to make sure you’re always teaching your kids tips for good hygiene at home so when they head to school they can keep all the germs away.  That’s why I’ve teamed up with Lysol to bring some great information to help you as parents help you kids stay healthy when back to school.

Because we can’t be with our kids at all times, teaching them lessons that they will carry with them is essential, many of these can even be helpful to their health.

Make wash up fun.

Kids are kids and the last thing they want to do is clean up. It’s easy for them  to go to the bathroom and not wash their hands. It’s easy for them to go through the day and not think of washing up once. Because let’s face it, they aren’t scared of germs, especially when they can’t see them. So making clean up fun is a must. Have them sing their favorite tune like Twinkle Twinkle little star or Happy Birthday while they wash their hands so they can make this task fun. Incorporating some fun into it will make this easier to do. lysol2

Diet and Exercise can Make a World of Difference

Make sure they’re getting plenty of water, fruits and vegetables. Keeping their bodies nourished is important in keeping their bodies fighting bad germs that might make it to them. It’s also important to stay healthy by exercising and getting out. A child who sits in front of a TV all day won’t get the much needed Vitamin D necessary for a healthy body. Getting the blood and muscles going will mean a world of good as well. So keeping up with diet and exercise are a must!

Teach Your Kids to Sneeze & Cough.

Sure we all know how to sneeze and cough but do we do it safely? Teaching your kids to cough or sneeze into their arms will help keep viruses at Bay. If we all do our part to do this germs and viruses won’t spread as quickly because they won’t be carried everywhere by way of air or hands.

Stock up on Cleaning products!

Make sure and have disinfectant and cleaning supplies on hand to help keep the house clean and germ free. Lysol has a great line of products that are perfect for keeping your home clean. All it takes is one person to bring a virus to the house before it spreads like wild fire. Believe me, with 5 kids it’s important to attach germs the moment there’s a sign one person is sick. So thankfully I know to grab products from Lysol to keep our home clean & sanitized.

lysol7

Make sure you always disinfect those items that get the most germs.  There are a few places in the house that will inevitably get more germs than others. The Toilet handle is a prime example.

lysol4

Doorknobs get lots of germ action as well, so giving them all a quick Lysol spray or swipe will bring a clean balance to your home. lysol9

Lysol has even made it easier to keep surfaces clean when you’re out and about. Check out this great To Go Disinfectant spray with all of the Lysol Germ fighting power in one little portable container you can take anywhere, like public bathrooms or the park.

Every week of the year, I take one day a week and wipe all door knobs, light switches, handles at sinks and showers, remote controls, etc with Lysol wipes. I usually do it on my cleaning day but even if I am lucky enough to skip a cleaning day one week, I still make sure this gets done.

Lots and lots of water! It doesn’t sounds like much, but in the last year I’ve focused on drinking a certain amount of water each day and I’ve noticed that several positive changes in my body. Now I make sure my toddler drinks plenty of water and I’m working on my husband too

There are many things we do in the house to keep healthy. We wash our hands before we eat, after we use the restroom, and if we touch anything yucky. We also cook healthy foods and eat fruits and vegetables.
