This is the first time I’ve gotten to cloth diaper a newborn and it has been a blast. However, with so many diapers out there it has been hard figuring out what are the best brands for my little man. Especially during the newborn phase. Cloth diapers are a huge money saver but the initial cost can be a daunting when diapers can range from 15.00-30ish..For many this can be a deal breaker when it comes to starting cloth diapering. So when I heard about SoftBums I was very excited and intrigued with the fact their diapers can truly fit from 5-40#’s. Most one size fit from 10#’s + but since little 4.0 was only 8#4oz he is still a little bit away from fitting into “Big Boy” diapers, so the fact he can already start wearing these was bliss 🙂 Thinking financially about just having to buy the same diapers now and be able to use them during his “diapering career” is a huge plus when thinking about SoftBums!
What sold me even more was the versatility of this system. It is an all-in-2, pocket diaper, or a prefold cover. With 3 ways to use this diaper it covers all diapering systems for your mood or need 🙂
With their hook and loop system fit is precise on a little one. I love the Velcro they use, it is sturdy and after prepping still looked just like it did when I got it!
The super soft fleece inside the diaper is amazingly soft! It is so perfect and I know it adds to my little guy’s comfort. The fact that its’ also unbleached and hypoallergenic makes it a win- win especially for those sensitive little Bums.
This diaper also has a HUGE pocket opening to put inserts inside, complete with snaps to hold inserts in place. This made stuffing so incredibly easy and precises. Which was great because it also prevented insert bunching which is always a reason we’ve had diaper blow outs or leaks.
The low rise is perfect for newborn umbilical cords which I didn’t factor in when buying newborn diapers and sadly I had issues with some of the better know brands because of that.
The one thing that I will say is that they are a little bulkier on newborns compared to newborn size and that is due to their one size fitting but it wasn’t a bad fit either compared to other one size diapers. As you can see from my little guy who was 8#’s
6oz when the picture was taken.
In summary, I highly recommend these diapers. From their adorable prints to their versatile use as well as their one size fit this is a highly complete and top notch diapering system.
