Winter time is here and it can be tough staying in shape or adopting a healthy lifestyle when the weather outside is frightful and there’s so many delicious and cozy things inside. Even living in Florida and it’s gorgeous weather can keep one from adopting healthier habits. That’s why I’ve teamed up with United Health Care to bring you all some fun & easy tips to help you this winter as well as give you the chance to win big!
Healthy Tips for a better you
Although our first inkling during the colder seasons is to relax and take it easy.Things you do during this time can help you develop some healthier habits. So when the nicer weather comes around you’ll have more energy and health. Below are some little things you can do that will pay off big in the end.
Although it can be tough to keep moving when it’s cold outside staying active indoors will make all the difference. From little things like housework or taking a class with a friend, make sure and still get some exercise in to help ward off the pounds.
It can be hard to stay hydrated because of the weather. However, your body needs more liquid during time than you think. Adding some delicious warm drinks like teas will help keep you hydrated while adding great antioxidants to your body. Add Honey instead of sugar to make the teas even healthier.
Don’t skip the Sunscreens
Although for many Sun is as elusive as the Abominable snowman it’s important to make sure and still use sunscreen because UV damage doesn’t take a break even in the winter.
Sleep like a Baby
Most adults don’t get enough sleep. For one reason or the other we just don’t. Lack of sleep can lead to lack of health including weight gain. So during the winter months it’s important to catch up on needed rest. Getting the recommend dosage of sleep can lead to a better sleeping pattern and in return give you long term health.
It may not be green outside but you can add greens to your diet along with other fruits and vegetables. Tempting as holiday food may be make sure and add fruits and vegetables when you can. Maybe substitute the fries for a salad or some fruit for that cookie. Doesn’t have to be always but making a few substitutions a week can make a big difference at the end of the season.
